Hello!
I am Sakina Syed.
Multi award-winning Dental Hygienist & Dental Therapist working in private practice in London.
My Story
My journey in dentistry began with a BSc (Hons) in Human Biology from King’s College London, followed by a dual diploma in BSc Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy from Queen Mary & Westfield University in 2008.
Prior to dentistry, I worked as a Retail Bank Manager, honing leadership and business skills that continue to shape my approach to practice management and patient care.
Since qualifying, I have worked in private practice within a multidisciplinary team, earning a reputation for my patient-centered approach, strong communication, and relationship-building skills, leading to continuous referrals. Passionate about community outreach, I regularly provide oral hygiene education at a primary school in Tower Hamlets.
My dedication has been recognised with multiple industry awards, including Dental Hygienist of the Year at the Private Dentistry Awards (2022, 2023,2024, three consecutive years), Clinical Dentistry Awards (2004) and Dental Hygienist of the Year at The Dentistry Awards (since 2022, 2023). Beyond clinical practice, I am committed to education and training, delivering CPD sessions, publishing expert articles, and offering motivational speaking for dental teams. I am Key Option leader (KOL) for Philips Healthcare Professionals and a iTop (Individual trained oral prophylaxis) instructor for Curaden Academy.
Currently, I serve as the London Regional Chair of The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) and sit on the Executive Council (2024-2025). I organize study evenings in London and advocate for the profession. With a strong passion for education and business growth, I help dental teams refine communication, improve patient experiences, and integrate new services—blending clinical excellence with a business-driven approach.

GBT is a modern, minimally invasive, and painless dental cleaning method using warm water, air, and antimicrobial powder to remove bacteria above and below the gum line.
Unlike traditional methods that may cause sensitivity, GBT provides a thorough oral assessment, gentle air polishing, and no-pain Piezon technology for optimal plaque removal. It effectively reduces the risk of gum disease and tooth decay while leaving your teeth and gums cleaner and healthier.
Personalized oral hygiene guidance, including brushing, flossing, and interdental care, is provided and reviewed every 3 to 6 months.
Bringing your toothbrush to the first visit is recommended. Backed by science, GBT removes 100% of plaque biofilm, making it my top choice for professional cleaning.

It is recommended to have a professional dental cleaning every 3 to 6 months, depending on your oral health needs.
Regular cleanings help prevent gum disease, cavities, and plaque buildup, ensuring long-term dental health. Your dentist or hygienist will assess and customize a recall schedule for you.
